Multi-Ethnic Affairs Minister Resigns

Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs, George Shiu Raj, resigned from his position in the SDL Government today.  He has been under increasing pressure this week after the Auditor-General's 2003 report revealed abuse of office and misuse of government funds pertaining to official travel.

Mr. Raj was forced out of Government after it became apparent the SDL Government would not be able to avoid the publicity surrounding his improprieties in office.  He indicated that he made the move to allow for a complete Police investigation into the matter.

Amongst other things, Mr. Raj is accused of taking his driver along as a photographer, on an official trip to India, last year.
