FLP Secretary-General, Mahendra Chaudhry, was in India
to receive attend a ceremony for receiving the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman
Award. He was one of 12 award winners announced in January, but was
unable to attend the ceremony at the time. He
received the award at a small ceremony in New Delhi, this week. The
award is given annually to Indians abroad who have in some way, helped
foster a better understanding of India. Bestowing
the award upon Mr. Chaudhry, represents growing recognition in India of
the plight of its citizens abroad and their on-going struggle for
equal-rights in their new homelands. |
