Labour CEO suspended by PSC

Labour CEO Brian Singh has been suspended from his post by the PSC pending investigations into misuse of funds for travel abroad.

Mr. Singh is accused of overpaying by a sum of $16, 203.72 to Hunts Travel for business-class tickets. He then traveled on cheaper economy-class tickets and pocketed the difference, refunded to him by the travel agency.

Mr. Singh is the first public victim of the uproar stemming from the release of the Auditor-General's 2003 Report tabled in Parliament earlier this week, in which the massive financial mismanagement of the SDL government was exposed.

The greed which was exhibited in the May 2000 coup now comfortably resides in the offices of government ministries.  The suspension of one official is a token offering by a government which has proven ineffective at controlling the rampant corruption and abuse of office carried out by its most senior members.
