The law as pronounced stands with the ruling given by Justice Gates in the matter of Prem Singh vs. Krishna Prasad.

That pronouncement has to be upheld and acted upon. The Labour Party is glad that the matter has been finally cleared in favour of Krishna Prasad.

As for declaring the seat vacant, Hon Prime Minister should call for a general election as the Fiji Labour Party believes that there has been numerous election irregularities as demonstrated by the current Agricultural Scam saga which has been closely linked to vote buying scandal. Three cases of alleged vote rigging is presently before the court.

It would be better for Fiji, if a properly supervised fresh elections is called to determine the will of the people once again.
