Fiji Labour Party is eagerly awaiting the outcome of the June 18 Supreme Court hearing on the Multi-Party Cabinet case. The Party says that Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase must remain firm over assurance that his government will fully respect the outcome of the Supreme Court decision.

FLP Leader Mahendra Chaudhry believes that the country must work on principles of democracy and everyone must respect the rule of law. Mr. Qarase has given assurance and commitment to the Commonwealth Action Group, the European Union and other donor agencies around the world as well as to other foreign governments and they are closely monitoring this important case. Expectations are high that the government will uphold the Constitution by implementing the outcome of the case.

The moment of truth for the Prime Minister is only days away and we are eager to see his response on the ruling. This will be the ultimate test for his leadership and could turn Fiji towards a new future.

The two leaders are expected to engage into negotiations once the Supreme Court gives its verdict. Meanwhile all talks on matters of National importance such as Land, Sugar and Constitution are on hold until the Court case.
