Prime Minister visits Takiveikata in jail
[posted1 Dec2004,1300]
The Fiji Labour Party is reliably informed that Prime
Minister Laisenia Qarase on Sunday paid a visit in jail to see Ratu Inoke
Takiveikata, on life imprisonment for inciting the army mutiny of 2000.
Takiveikata, high chief of Naitasiri was the prime
minister's nominee in the Senate.
He received life sentence mid-last week for playing a
key role in inciting the army mutiny of 2 November 2000 which attempted to
get rid of Commander Frank Bainimarama.
Questions now arise as to why the Prime Minister
should be visiting in jail a person convicted of inciting mutiny in
the Fiji army.
Following the PM's visit, close relatives of Takiveikata
have expressed confidence that everything will be alright.
One has a right to ask what is cooking? Is
Takiveikata going to be released on a special ministerial order as well
same as Seniloli?
The nation is waiting to see yet another move from the
SDL government, confirming its distinct partiality towards people
connected with the coup and the army mutiny of November 2000. |
