Fiji’s political landscape will remain unchanged for the next three years at least - this was made clear in the Interim Prime Minister’s address to the nation today.

Pacific Youth Festival censorship

[posted 3 July 2009,1330]

The public has reacted with concern to government’s decision to vet speeches that will be made at the Pacific Youth Festival to be held in Suva later this month.

Fiji Labour Party has noted an increase in the number of people who are beginning to question what is happening.

First, two prominent speakers were barred from addressing the conference and now we are told that government will check all speeches to be delivered at the youth festival.

It is giving Fiji a bad name and if it continues, Fiji may find itself being sidelined as a venue for regional and international meetings and rallies in future.
