Mills weekly performance
[posted 29 Nov 2012,1230]
The four sugar mills crushed a total of 67,525 tonnes of cane in the week
ended 28th November.
All four mills performed well below
capacity due to stoppages resulting from mechanical breakdowns and low cane
supply.
The Lautoka Mill stopped crushing at 10am
yesterday reportedly because of a shortage of hog fuel. During the week, the
mill was out of action for three days, as also the Rarawai and Labasa Mills.
The Penang Mill closed on Monday 28
November, having crushed 208,307 tonnes of cane this season.
