Labasa mill breaks down on Day one!

[posted 23 June 2010, 1545]

Labasa mill hardly crushed any cane since its start on June 22.

Cane from four (4) rail trucks were dumped into the mill carrier at 11.30 am to herald the commencement of the crush. However, the mill stopped soon afterwards.

It restarted at 3.45 pm with about 10-12 lorry loads in the carrier but broke down after about 30 minutes.

It resumed the next day June 23 at about 11.30 am but hardly crushed anything before coming to a stop again.

The mill had not restarted when this story was posted.
